Television

Some television shows are missing on Flemish channels. At least, that's my opinion. I have lots of ideas to make our television nights more exciting. I would like to present you some of them. I don't like to reveal every of my ideas. If you are working for someone who would like to pick up one of this formats, please let me know at info

Attention: I almost can't stop you from 'stealing' these ideas. I would like to kindly ask you to show some respect and not do this. If you use these ideas without contacting me, please at least mention 'based on an idea of Jan Claes'.

Liquids documentary
In a liquids documentary we visit factories to watch how liquids are industrially produced nowadays. The 'liquids' that I mean are: mayonnaise, ketchup, cream sauces, fruity juices, tooth paste, shampoo, butter, ink cartridges, etcetera. We also get to know how we can make them ourselves. To prevent the program from getting boring, we need a nice host. I was thinking about a nutty professor. I have some more inspiration, but I don't want to reveal everything. As I said: If you are interested, contact me at info

Addition: Gust pointed out to me that such a program is currently running at Discovery Channel, where you can see "how certain things are made": <How Stuff's Made> and <How It's made>.
Addition: Linda pointed out to me that also on German television at WDR in <Die Sendung Mit Der Maus> sometimes a topic is devoted to showing "how things are made".

Political shows
Why do I feel like politicians always have to argue in political television show? Why do they get too little time and piece to clarify their opinions? Why are discussions aborted just as it gets interesting because 'there is no time left'? Why do I feel like interviewers are trying to let politicians say what they do not want to say? When are we getting a political show where public media are not trying to influence but try to be objective? Well, I hope this can change very soon. In the format I present here, every politician gets some talk minutes (e.g. 15 minutes) per topic.
Rules are strict. When a politician starts to compare to other parties or institutions he loses some minutes. That's because this is causing all discussion. When the politician catches the interviewer when he is asking suggestive questions, the politician gets more minutes. A popular, non-politic, intelligent and funny famous Belgian is the jury (I was thinking of Wouter Deprez). The goal is and remains to make a serious politic show, where we as spectators get to know the full point of view of the different parties in a positive atmosphere. Every encroachment is tempered by the jury in a funny way. Do you wish to work this out with me? Please let me know at info

The new combination
A trend that is inspiring television makers last years to develop new television show is combining styles. One of them got its own name: infotainment. But there are other forms. I hava a particular idea of a new combination of a game and a soap. I would invite famous people to play a certain parlour game. Besides this, the story is played by actors. The spectator can play the game at home together with the famous people. This text is probable very vague, but I don't want to reveal everything. If you want to know more, contact me at info
